Pawpaw Experiment

Me and my mom started a experiment in November on the pawpaw plant. We did this because we had two over ripe pawpaws that we needed to do something with. So, we decided that we could make a experiment out of it. We took the seeds out of the fruit (it was really slimy and gross) and found six giant seeds in each one! After that we put the in our fridge because they are native to Massachusetts and need to go though winter to be able to grow. Now that about four moths had passed it is time to wake them up and plant them. So either today or tomorrow me and my mom are going to take them out of the fridge and warm them up to 75 degrees Fahrenheit for 24 hours. Then we are going to plant them in our back yard underneath the trees because the sprout are really sensitive to sunlight. I live in Massachusetts so the wont be a non-native plant which i am happy about. That is my pawpaw experimant so far!

  • Cool! Do you know where I can find Pawpaw plants in Massachusetts? I’d love to see one in the wild

I would think you would find them deep in forests as they are a understory plant and the seedlings would die if they had direct sunlight.

  • Thanks! Next time I go for a walk I’ll keep an eye out for them 😄! Question, you said that the Butler’s Garter Snake can go extinct even though its not on the endangered animals list. What can we do to help them and could you maybe possibly leave some pictures of the animals you talk about? Thanks for your help :)!

I will try to add photos of the animals I talk about. I also think a way to help the Butler’s Garter Snake would be to help their homes and protect them.

  • Thanks! Can’t wait wait to hear! I really hope Butler’s Garter Snake doesn’t go extinct… what will the Butler’s do😂! Have a great day and can’t wait to hear about your next endangered animal or maybe a plant,it’s really fun to read!
